Writing
At Loose, we pride ourselves on instilling an ability to communicate effectively for a variety of purposes and audiences in our students; viewing language as a powerful means of self-expression. Our children are encouraged to become successful writers through practising a combination of sequential skills and extended written outcomes.
Our aim is that all children leave Loose with an extensive repertoire of functional literacy skills that they are able to use. Each year group encounters new spelling, punctuation and grammar skills which build on the children's previous learning and understanding. This empowers our children to feel that their voice is valued and that they are able to express themselves effectively through a variety of different mediums.
Beyond this, we believe that all children should be passionate writers who are excited to put pen to paper. We use engaging, high quality texts which entice our children and hook them into writing activities. These texts serve not only to excite our learners but to model key literacy choices, including vocabulary and grammar.
Above all, we strive to create readers and writers for life who are armed with the skills to succeed and fulfil their potential in the next stage of their education and beyond.
