Music
Music at Loose is highly valued and links very closely to our global theme of Expressive Arts that underpin all the curriculum chooses we make here at Loose. We know the importance of high quality Music teacher so in light of this we employ a specialist teacher to lead the teaching of Music across the school. Our fabulous, enthusiastic and knowledgable specialist teacher delivers sessions for all year groups 1-6 and plans using the Charanga scheme of work so that skills and musical knowledge develop throughout the curriculum.
As well providing excellent specialist teaching we also aim to ensure that there are many opportunities for children to learn an instrument and participate in rich musical activities. Throughout the school, children sing, listen and respond to music from all over the world, and learn to read and follow notation (notes and rhythm).
We have piano and guitar lessons taking place in the school across the week which is an excellent way for children to take the first steps into learning an instrument. We celebrate the successes of the children who take part in showcase assemblies.
Children also prepare for performances such as class assemblies, nativity plays, school productions. We aim to hold whole school performance events every two to three years. In recent years, we have celebrated 'A Night at The Musicals' at the Hazlitt theatre and 'Loose Gets Lively' held at local secondary school Cornwallis.
